Manchester soul singer introduces the online streaming world to Troubled living. Out on 7th August 2020, this song drops at a timely moment in politics, but this soulful hip-hop track has been sat in Yemi’s back pocket for about seven years.

With her seven-piece band she sings about the hardships of capitalism, beginning with reflective lyrics of qualm and questioning, ending with an air of hope and unity. There’s a story to this song and the multitude of instruments played within it compliment the narrative to
bring this poignant tale to life. Life’s hardships attributed to the powers that be is the backdrop of this song and the vocal itself is packed with attitude, power and positivity.

This will be the second release as a band since “Takin’ Over” (December 2018) having launched her solo live project two years ago. Her experimental soul outfit collaborate to
create music that is emotionally conscious, bouncy and dynamic. A combination of on & off beat drums, neo-soul bass, RnB guitar, swollen synths, rich viola strings and bluesy backing vocals, Troubled living is an exciting piece of music hailing proudly from the ever collaborative
Manchester music scene. The track was mixed and mastered by James Paul sound, and recorded at Giant Wafer studios. The video trailer gives the world a little insight into the personality of the band playing on the brady bunch family visuals inspired by the multiple screen culture of lockdown 2020.

Longlisted for Glastonbury 2021, Yemi is very much at the start of her vision for soul music and this band sound is a big part of the singers future endeavours. Play this song loud, sit back, listen and get conscious!
